Dear Minister, I am writing to you on behalf of my (son/daughter/child) regarding the lack of Disability Services he/she is in receipt of. My child in 1 of over 96 thousand children awaiting services in Ireland. (CHILD name) is waiting for (Assessment or Intervention) since (date). The implications of the lack of services are stark. From my perspective as a parent, the financial hardship, stress and disappointment is difficult to deal with. From my (son/daughters) perspective, the lack of services have a much greater impact. Without support, (he/she) deals with (Sensory dysregulation, emotional struggles, food struggles, unsafe seating, out of date or unsuitable OT exercises, difficulty mobilising, Communication difficulties, mood disturbances ADD WHAT YOU NEED HERE). My child's rights are being infringed. (He/she) cannot reach their full potential without intervention and support. Under Article 7 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Disabled Persons, which Ireland has committed to and ratified, it is (his/her) human right to be provided with disability assistance. My child is not a statistic. (He/she) is not a pile of paperwork. (He/she) is a valued member of our family and community. I urge you to liaise with stakeholders and address the shambles that is PDS.
